RENT - Grand Prairie Arts Council, 2025
DIRECTORIAL TESTIMONIALS
"Director Russell has achieved a sense of community that permeates this RENT and enhances every aspect of the musical. These people are real, and I cared as never before for these bohemians as they fight the establishment, poverty, and the AIDS plague.
Whether you are a Renthead like me or new to the musical, this RENT is not to be missed. Director Russell has fashioned a RENT that beams with the spirit of togetherness and community. And, Jonathan Larson, keep resting in peace knowing that these young people are keeping your legacy shining."
- Doug Sturdivant, DFW CenterStage
"Directed like a pro by Jayden Russell (a powerhouse singer and actor by day), the spectacle GPAC has let this fabulous ensemble stage is an even more impressive phoenix than one might expect.
There’s enough effort and skill in this production to sustain a Broadway-length run. Maybe we can encourage them to do some guerilla-style pop-up appearances in found locations.
Dare I say, this RENT deserves a longer lease."

PRESS
AMERICAN IDIOT, 2021
"The real surprise for me in this production is Jayden Russell, who I have not previously seen perform. Russell plays the role of the drug dealer, St. Jimmy, a part that is usually played by a male. I don't know where Russell has been previously, but I hope they are here to stay. Belting out songs in a black bustier, they are sheer stage electricity & impossible to ignore. With their sound & those incredible flashing eyes, they'd be a dynamic Sally Bowles. Sign me up for their fan club."

DEBBIE DOES DALLAS, 2025
"As Debbie's cheerleader sister/nemesis, Lisa, Jayden Russell shined with an uninhibited two-faced performance. Russell smiled up the friendly parts, but when vying for Rick's attention, they served up telenovela realness with dramatic facial expressions & posturing. Their physical humour was top notch as Russell displayed the ability to slink seductively or get down & dirty."

ELTON JOHN & TIM RICE'S AIDA, 2023
"Jayden Russell is the Egyptian princess, Amneris, who whom Radames is betrothed & to whom Aida is a trusted servant. Russell, with their extraordinary vocals & undeniable stage presence, takes their character from a somewhat campy fashionista in 'My Strongest Suit' to a woman betrayed in 'I Know The Truth' & their journey is heartfelt & convincing. Russell is most definitely another star on the rise"

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, 2022
"Audrey, played by the powerhouse, Jayden Russell, gives us a balance between a classic & a modern Audrey. 'Suddenly Seymour' sent electricity through the audience & left us stunned & wishing we could have an encore."
